Founded 1995

  • Mission statement

The Cogwheel Trust provides children's homes and community care for vulnerable children in Uganda. It started with twelve children in 1995 and now cares for over 260 children with varied needs. The Trust has a children's home in Uganda but it also helps children in the community. All of the children in care attend local schools which helps them become part of the wider community, it also enables the schools to obtain extra income and additional staff. Many of the children have suffered tragedy and trauma in their lives and our staff who are nationals who are trained to give them support and counselling. We also have good medical facilities to care for those with HIV, TB and other tropical diseases.

We have a 'Children's Centre' in the village of
Mpoma. It provide's meals, education, medical care and tuition for local children who live with their grandparents. This facility not only benefits the children but also the grandparents who rely on the children to help them around the home. This is the first of many such projects helping children obtain a good standard of care but keeping them in thier own environment.
We also have ten acres of land at Kanganda where we are planning to build our own primary school and a new children's home but this is very much still at the planning stage.
