Dorset County Scouts Council

Nile 2010 is an expedition of Scouts and Explorer Scouts. It is a joint venture between the 38th Bournemouth Scouts and the Avon Explorer Unit. In the summer of 2010, 34 Scouts and Leaders will leave Bournemouth for almost one month to work with the Scouts of Jinja in southern Uganda.

Community Development - Our next phase will be to work with the local scouts and other charities on projects to support the nearby community. The projects are still being confirmed, but may include work on educational or community facilities. All of our projects will help disadvantaged
children. Scouting in countries such as Uganda often forms the catalyst for such development. An example is using the teachings of the scout movement to motivate homeless children to form communities and
to bring them back off the streets.

Scouting is a registerd charity in the UK and worldwide. Many young people have benefitted greatly from belonging to the scout movement over the years. This is our opportunity to give some of this back to others less fortunate than ourselves.
