The William Mathias Music Centre is a centre of excellence for music education and performance within the community. It aims to ensure access to the highest level of musical tuition in Wales, and safeguard high artistic standards. The Centre achieves its aims by providing first class musical activities through :

• raising the standard of performance and musicianship,
• providing opportunities for talented young people to receive expert tuition and, at the same time, provide an opportunity for professional musicians to earn a living in a centre that is dedicated to music.
THE CORE ACTIVITY is the organisation of regular, weekly specialist music tuition by professional tutors in strings, voice, woodwind, brass, percussion, harp, guitar and piano. The current age -range of our students is between 18 months and 80 years, and students come from all parts of North Wales.
Group activities range from introductory music classes for babies to lectures, classes in music theory, choral and orchestral workshops, and music sessions for people with severe learning difficulties. Students travel to receive tuition from a wide geographical area. 75% of students are of school age, the numbers of mature learners is constantly increasing and the Centre sees life-long learning as part of its mission. Individual and small group practice-rooms are used on a regular basis by a team of 30 tutors.
