The National Piping Centre

The National Piping Centre is a registered charity based in Glasgow, Scotland, and is the world centre of excellence for the promotion and study of the Great Highland Bagpipe. The most far-reaching and influential organisation of its kind, the National Piping Centre is at the very heart of a world-wide regeneration of interest in Scotland’s most iconic instrument. We aim to deliver exceptional music education, foster interest in the music and tradition of the bagpipe, and work hard to actively promote Scottish tourism, culture, and heritage through music and the arts. In addition to delivering piping tuition to over 900 students a month, some of our main projects include the Museum of Piping, the Highland Library project, the BA (Scottish Music-Piping) in conjunction with the RSAMD, the Glasgow International Piping Festival every August, and the National Youth Pipe Band of Scotland, our main project for children and young people. We also have a bar and restaurant, hotel, small shop, and rent out our auditorium facilities in order to offset some of the cost of our charitable activity. Since our launch in 1996, we have taught over 100,000 students from over 50 countries, and have become a focal point for thousands of people from across the world who have come to Scotland specifically to learn with us.
