Myeloma UK is the only organisation in the UK dedicated exclusively to providing information and support to people living with myeloma, a complex and incurable bone marrow cancer. We also aim to improve treatment and care through research, education, campaigning and raising awareness.
Myeloma is a complex, challenging and debilitating cancer of the plasma cells. Plasma cells are found in the bone marrow and are responsible for protecting the body against infection. In myeloma, plasma cells produce abnormal antibodies, which, through complex interactions, destroy the immune system, dissolve bone and cause organ failure.
There are an estimated 14,000 people with myeloma at any one time in the UK and 4,000 new cases each year.
