Royal Conservatoire of Scotland

  • Mission statement

To create in Scotland the international centre of excellence and innovation for learning, teaching and research in performance, in which the quality of the student experience is paramount.

The RSAMD is Scotland’s only conservatoire and a world centre for training and excellence in the performing arts. The busiest performing arts venue in Scotland, it offers courses in music of all genres, theatre and production, film and television, musical theatre and opera. The RSAMD is also home of The National Centre for Research into the Performing Arts, an arts-based research consultancy undertaking projects across a number of artistic and related areas, including educational arts policy and strategic development and training, continuing professional development of performing arts professionals, and practise-based compositional research. These programmes, together with the commitment to Scottish traditional music, new music, music for the under 18s and the training of classroom teachers, means that the RSAMD has the widest remit of all UK conservatoires.
