The Festival and King's Theatres are two of Scotland's foremost independent arts venues. We aim to enable the widest possible audience to engage with the highest quality theatre: our programme is diverse, stimulating and above all, entertaining.
The King's Theatre has been a much loved theatre since 1906. Amongst other things, it is home to Edinburgh's annual pantomime, and has given generations of children their first experience of live theatre. The Trust urgently needs to restore this beautiful theatre to its former glory, so that we can provide audiences with another century of high quality theatre.
The Festival Theatre stages large scale productions including music, comedy, dance and opera and is the main venue for the Edinburgh International Festival and the home of Scottish Ballet and Scottish Opera in Edinburgh.
We run an extensive education programme including talks, workshops, tours and initiatives to encourage young people to participate in the arts. We also have more access performances (audio-described, captioned, and British sign language interpreted) than any other other theatre in Scotland ensuring that people from all walks of life can enjoy the magic of theatre.
The theatres are a wonderful cultural resource in the city and a source of great joy to a great many people, but we cannot cover our running costs through ticket sales alone. To help us maintain the quality, diversity and accesibility of our programme, please consider supporting us. Thank you.
