Royal Commonwealth Society

The Royal Commonwealth Society is an international educational charity. Working to inspire and engage young people, the RCS promotes understanding and knowledge of the modern Commonwealth.

The RCS is:
• A centre for the exchange of ideas: the Public Affairs Programme brings internationally acclaimed speakers from politics, media, the arts, academia and business to the RCS to debate topical and sometimes controversial issues relevant to the modern Commonwealth and beyond
• A defender of human rights: the RCS lobbies governments at the highest level to stand up and speak out on policies affecting Commonwealth citizens
• An educator: the RCS’s Commonwealth Youth Leadership Programme and the Youth Commonwealth Heads of Government Meetings increase young people’s awareness about issues affecting the modern Commonwealth and their role as global citizens
• A provider of opportunities to young people: the Commonwealth Essay Competition and the Commonwealth Vision Awards inspire thousands of young writers and film-makers to develop their skills and engage with key challenges facing the international community
• A champion of diversity: the annual multi-faith Commonwealth Observance in Westminster Abbey on Commonwealth Day is the largest of its kind in the UK and champions the special diversity and tolerance in the Commonwealth family
• A showcase for Commonwealth culture: leading Commonwealth artists exhibit their work in the stylish surroundings of the Commonwealth Club

The RCS's work would not be possible without generous donations from our supporters. Every gift you give, no matter how big or small, will make a difference.
