Community Initiatives South West

The primary activity of Community Initiatives South West is to redistribute surplus food from the food industry to organisations working with vulnerable people, via the FareShare South West project. Through our work, local organisations or community groups such as hostels and day-centres have access to good quality food for their clients, and the food industry has a socially responsible alternative to the dumping of good food onto already over-filled landfill sites.

A second equally important activity of FareShare South West is to recruit and train volunteers, both from the population at large and from the vulnerable communities themselves. Volunteers are given the opportunity to gain skills and self-esteem and thus enhance their employability for the future.
