Guide Dogs for the Blind

We will not rest until blind and partially sighted people can enjoy the same freedom of movement as everyone else.

Founded 1931

  • Mission statement

We will deliver a world class guide dog service as part of a range of mobility services, and work to break down barriers to ensure blind and partially sighted people can get out and about on their own terms.

For every blind and partially sighted person, achieving mobility is a journey that is personal and unique. Our Strategy 2010 – 2020 is a long term plan for providing help that reflects the true needs of each individual – from dealing with initial diagnosis and potential emotional trauma, through to finding the right mix of mobility and vision support services for different circumstances.

  • Aims

Guide Dogs for the Blind aims to:

    • Our purpose is to deliver the guide dog service and other mobility services; to break down legal and physical barriers; and to enable blind and partially-sighted people to get around on their own.
