We are Leonard Cheshire, the UK’s leading pan-disability charity - supporting individuals to live, learn and work as independently as they choose, whatever their ability. Led by people with experience of disability, we are at the heart of local life – opening doors to opportunity, choice and support in communities around the globe.
We believe that diversity and inclusion create a world of possibility. Leading by example, we do everything humanly possible to empower people to live their lives as freely and as fully as they choose. We want people to have freedom of choice no matter who they are or where they live. We actively share our knowledge and experience with local charities and business partners to build fairer, more inclusive communities, recognising the positive contributions we all make through volunteering, work, skills and wellbeing programmes.
We’re working internationally, and aim to support as many of the one billion disabled people living across the world as possible. From inclusive education opportunities and youth leadership programmes, to research on poverty and disability– we’re working to strengthen government policy and open opportunities for people to live, learn and work independently, whatever their ability.
Leonard Cheshire aims to:
- Support through community - Leading by example, we do everything humanly possible to empower people to live their lives as freely and as fully as they choose
- Impact through partnership - Through partnerships, we aim to transform and influence progress towards more inclusive communities
- Influence through insight - We’re constantly exchanging ideas about issues that are important to us all, so we can make a difference to people’s lives
