  • Mission statement

The guiding principles of TVS are those of equality of opportunity and international understanding. We work with schools and community groups in the Tyume Valley area of the Eastern Cape to help them to overcome the legacy of poverty and inequality left by apartheid and to respond to the current crisis in rural education and rural life.

The TVS mission is to enhance the life chances of children and young people
through the widening of educational opportunities, support for schools, the provision of resources and the introduction of sustainable programmes to promote educational and socio-economic development.

TVS is also committed to supporting Development Education in the UK and recruiting volunteer teachers to share experience and expertise and to help local schools and organisations in the Tyume Valley to address their needs.
