The Nevis Partnership

The Nevis Partnership works to care for Ben Nevis, Britain's highest mountain, and stunning surrounding landscape. We encourage sustainable access, maintain paths and run projects to enhance the environmental qualities of the area, such as our Future Forests projects for people and wildlife.

    The Nevis Partnership was formed in 2003 and based in Fort William. Our mission is

    “make this cherished area an exemplar of the sustainable approach to managing an accessible and popular Glen and Mountain, conserving and enhancing its landscape, its wild country and its heritage for both resident and visitor alike. ”

    Our work is guided by 5 Key Principles:

    - Sustainability

    - Partnership and joint working

    - Community landowners and government agency involvement. Agreement and support for management initiatives.

    - Recognition of the area's international and national conservation, tourism and recreation importance

    - Commitment to action and investment.

    The Nevis Partnership aims to:

    • Paths Make the Nevis Area and exemplar of sustainable access by maintaining the network of high quality paths in the Nevis area.
    • Future Forests Improving connectivity of Caledonian Pinewoods to increase biodiversity in Glen Nevis
    • Training Provide environmental training and education for all.
    • Volunteering Promote a range of volunteering opportunities for the local community and visitors.
