The Sunflower Fellowship Romania

We are a small Christian charity which built and supports a holiday home in eastern Romania called "Casa Valentin" for children suffering from AIDS and/or other special needs. Since 2002 over 2,000 children have had a week's holiday free of charge, most of whom have never had a holiday in their lives before. In addition we provide weekday care during school term time for up to 15 very poor children living in the village of Cataloi where our home is situated. Some of these children live in one room with no electricity or running water and find it difficult to complete their homework. At Casa Valentin they receive a hot meal on arrival at midday, then have help with their homework. Once each week they enjoy a bath or shower and have their clothes laundered. We also care for a foster child whose alcoholic parents used to beat her and send her out begging on the streets. She is now doing well at school and enjoys the company of other children.
It currently costs us in the region of £3,000 each month to provide the staffing and day to day running costs of Casa Valentin.
