Charity information
CMT United Kingdom
We are the national support group for people affected by Charcot-Marie-Tooth Disease, also known as Peroneal Muscular Atrophy or Hereditary Motor and Sensory Neuropathy
Founded 1986
-
Mission statement
Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease is the most common inherited neuropathy in the UK, but the level of knowledge amongst medical professionals and the public alike is poor - something we are trying to address, as a charity.
Our primary mission is to provide support, information and advice to anyone affected by this condition - people with CMT, their family, carers, medical professionals and the like. We do this by a website, www. Cmt. Org. Uk, a magazine, lots of information leaflets, a book and an annual conference. -
Aims
CMT United Kingdom aims to:
- To raise sufficient funds to be able to sponsor significant research into CMT in the UK
- To increase awareness of CMT to the public and professionals - particularly those people living with the condition who still don't know that there is support available.
