Droitwich Ferret Welfare

A small registered charity, specialising in ferrets operating in Worcestershire and the surrounding counties. Foster carers in the region work closely with the RSPCA, vets and the public.

Founded 2003

  • Mission statement

Rescuing, caring and re-homing ferrets in need to both pet and working homes. The Welfare takes in lost, abandoned and unwanted ferrets - sick, injured or well. On average over 200 ferrets benefit from the Welfare's care every year.

The Welfare aims to introduce ferrets to the public and provides written information on their care and husbandry to ensure that the general and specialist animal welfare issues are understood and met by new owners.

  • Aims

    Droitwich Ferret Welfare aims to:

    • Bridge the gap between pets as working animals, hunting rabbits and conserving the countryside and pet owners. Promoting best practice in each role and supporting both aspects of their husbandry
    • Rescue, care, rehabilitation and appropriate rehoming of ferrets in need.
    • Educate the public on ferret husbandry and offer advice and assistance as required. In so doing dispel the myth that ferrets are viscious animals and instead promote them as pets and working animals
