Magic Breakfast

Magic Breakfast is a national charity providing free, healthy breakfasts to 17,500 school children everyday who arrive at school too hungry or malnourished to learn.

Founded 2002

  • Mission statement

We provide free, healthy breakfasts to primary schools where a significant number of children arrive too hungry to learn. We currently deliver to 443 primary schools in the UK. Where we do offer breakfast club support, teachers report that a wide range of benefits, such as improved attendance and timeliness, and most importantly children being “settled and able to learn”.

Why are we needed? According to the Child Poverty Action Group, for as many as 1 in 4 children arrive at school hungry, causing problems to concentration, behaviour and school performance. Why are they hungry? There are a range of factors includeing parents with little nutriton understanding, a lack of money and lack of parent time. Many children use the money left out for them to buy crisps and sweets on the way to school.

We work with schools that have above 35% of children eligible for free school meals. The need for our services is huge. We currently have 300 schools on our waiting list in need of our help - your support will mean we can expand our work to provide a healthy breakfast as food for learning.
