Turning Orphans and Street Children into University Graduates and Future Leaders of Ethiopia by providing scholarship mentoring schemes! An effective charity with measurable and sustainable results.

Founded 2004

  • Mission statement

We provide excellent schooling for severely under-privileged yet motivated and academically promising students in Ethiopia.

The ultimate objective of the programme is to enable university entrance for all our scholars and provide them with a path to make a real difference to their own lives and their country’s development.

The core principles by which we operate are the focusing of our resources on a small number of children with high potential and the establishment of a direct relationship between the sponsor and the child.

As a charity, we are very lean. Eef is small, run by friends with full time jobs in London. Due to our size, and explicit choice, we are able to operate with minimal administration costs and virtually every pound spent by a donor goes directly to finance our projects.

After 9 years we now have 165 students on our programme out of which the first 110 graduated from high school. Most of these 110 graduates are now studying at university, 29 of them in the medical field and four of our students are studying at New York University in Abu Dhabi on full four year scholarships. 9 Students have already graduated from university (4 engineers, 3 business and economics, 2 computer science and mathematics)

Most of our students live in our own academy style accommodation where they enjoy a well equipped library, internet connected computers and where they attend seminars and workshops to complement their education.
