The Queen's Hall is a leading international venue, promoting all kinds of music-making by and for all kinds of people

Founded 1979

  • Mission statement

Since its inaugural season in 1979, The Queen's Hall has played a central and vital role in thedevelopment of music in Edinburgh. As the concert hall and rehearsal centre for The Scottish Chamber Orchestra, and a major venue for the Edinburgh International Festival, we have played host to an extraordinary range of artists as well as quartets, ensembles and orchestras of international excellence.
The combination of our perfectly proportioned auditorium, world-renowned acoustics and capacity for a thousand-strong audience is a compelling one and, over the last 30 years, The Queen’s Hall has become the preferred venue for a diverse range of musical performances –from chamber and classical to jazz, folk and traditional music. We appeal to the broadest range of musical tastes and our audiences have been entertained by some of the world’s foremost artists, from Alfred Brendel to Joshua Bell, Stephen Isserlis, Jerusalem Quartet, Steven Osborne, Jeff Buckley, Courtney Pine, Tommy Smith, Phil Cunningham and Aly Bain.

Every year over 100,000 music lovers participate in more than 200 performances at The Queen’s Hall – we are a key component of the cultural landscape of the city and the only venue to host major performances for the Edinburgh International Festival, as well as the Festival Fringe and the Edinburgh Jazz and Blues Festival - while The Scottish Chamber Orchestra, Scottish National Jazz Orchestra, Scottish Ensemble and Hebrides Ensemble are all welcomed onto our stage.
