The Queen's Hall Edinburgh

The Queen's Hall is a leading international venue, promoting all kinds of music-making by and for all kinds of people

Founded 1979

  • Mission statement

The Queen’s Hall is a 900 seat Concert Hall owned and run by an independent Charitable Trust, and since its inaugural season in 1979, has played a vital role in the development and live performance of music in Edinburgh. As the concert hall and rehearsal centre for The Scottish Chamber Orchestra, and a major venue for The Edinburgh International Festival and Fringe, and many other of Edinburgh’s annual Festivals, we have played host to an extraordinary range of artists in the Classical Music field but are equally renowned for artists performing in Jazz, Folk and Roots, Rock and Americana.

As an A listed former church building the Hall is fine example of Georgian architecture opening in 1823 and operating as a Church until 1979.

This adaptability as a venue is what makes the Hall unique in the City and the combination of our perfectly proportioned auditorium, world-renowned acoustics and capacity for a thousand-strong audience is a compelling one and an important cultural asset for Scotland’s Capital city.

Each year we need to raise substantial funds to support the music programme, our learning and community projects and to look after the historic fabric.
