The Duke of Edinburgh's Award International Association

The International Award is a self-development programme aimed at all young people aged between 14 and 25 regardless of their background or ability. The philosophy of the Award is about experiential learning and individual challenge, developing mind, body and soul through the four sections of the programme.

Our most well-known programme is The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award here in the UK, but our operations are global with over 800,000 young people participating annually in programmes in 130 countries – 62 at the national level. The vision of the Association is for the International Award to be regarded as “The Programme of Choice” for young people worldwide.

August 12th 2010 marks the beginning of the United Nation’s International Year of Youth (IYY), launched to celebrate young people’s contribution to the world. As a youth organisation, we are committed to providing opportunities for young people; it is our goal to extend the Award to as many young people as possible. Find out more about IYY and what Award participants are doing to celebrate it.
