Disabled Living Foundation (DLF)

The Disabled Living Foundation (DLF) provides expert advice on independent living to over 1 million people every year, helping adults and children with disabilities, carers and health professionals.

Founded 1969

  • Mission statement

The Disabled Living Foundation (DLF) is the UK’s leading health charity providing expert and impartial advice on independent living. It is dedicated to helping adults and children with disabilities and the increasing number of older people who are affected by age-related conditions. It is also a vital resource for carers and health professionals.

DLF is widely recognised for its enterprising and innovative use of interactive technology to disseminate life-changing information. More than 1 million enquirers access this every year via its Helpline; its award-winning 'LivingMadeEasy' and 'AskSara' websites; and its Equipment Demonstration Centre.

DLF’s goal is to maintain dignity, independence and quality of life. The impact of its advice can be profound. At its simplest, it might restore to someone the ability to pour a kettle, take a shower, or travel to the shops. At its most far-reaching, it could remove the fear of having to go into care.

DLF is a founder member of The Information Standard, a certification scheme for providers of health and social care information.
