Charity information

Birmingham Hippodrome Theatre Trust

Birmingham Hippodrome is the UK’s most popular single auditorium theatre welcoming, on average, over 500,000 visitors every year.

As one of the most successful and popular theatres in the world, we are perfectly placed to expand our reach, deepen engagement and make a big difference to people’s lives. Our Hippodrome CREATIVE programme offers outstanding opportunities in schools and colleges and across the community, as well as bringing to life spectacular outdoor events

Founded 1979

  • Mission statement

Our vision is of a vibrant world-class Birmingham arts scene with the Hippodrome centre stage.

Birmingham Hippodrome Theatre Trust (Registered Charity No. 51042) was established in 1979 to manage the charity and raise funds to fulfil its potential.

Run by a board of voluntary trustees, we are an independent charity with no revenue funding from public sources. We frequently invest in projects alongside Arts Council England and with Birmingham City Council. Generous support is received from the business community through sponsorship and other partnerships; from individuals through donations and memberships; and from grant-making Trusts for special programming and infrastructure projects. As a major employer in the region we also play a leading role in the Southside Business Improvement District.
