The Mary Rose Trust

To conserve and preserve King Henry VIII's flagship, Mary Rose, for future generations.

Founded 1979

  • Mission statement

The Mary Rose and her collection of artefacts provides the world’s best insight into Tudor life some 500 years ago. Many of our artefacts don’t exist anywhere else in the world and together they tell the compelling story of King Henry VIII’s favourite warship and her crew.

The Trust has an ongoing commitment to the wreck site where the Mary Rose lay and the continuing conservation of the hull and the thousands of artefacts recovered with her. There are many ways you can supports us – from becoming a Patron or Flag Officer to making a donation or volunteering. With your help, we can make sure this glorious ship can be preserved and displayed in an innovative museum.

After years of planning, fundraising and building, the New Mary Rose Museum opened to the public in 2013 and reopened 19th July 2016, revealing the Mary Rose in all her splendor. This is yet another chapter in her long story and it will continue with plans already being discussed for the rudder, stem and other parts of the ship’s structure to be reinstated.

Please support us and be part of a remarkable piece of history.
