The Bridge Youth Project

The Bridge works exclusively in the Salisbury and South Wiltshire area. At the request of local schools (Primary and Secondary) it runs courses for pupils identified as in particular need. Courses include Social Inclusion, Emotional Literacy and Anger Management. In addition, since 2006, The Bridge has run OASIS courses specifically targeting school refusers identified by the local education authority. The success rate for returning refusers to school is currently 50%. This area of our work is in desperate need of expansion.

The Bridge formed in 1992, created by a group of local churches as part of an action programme for the local community. It now has an annual budget of around £125K and has 6 paid part-time staff, including a Director (a former school deputy head), but mostly runs using volunteers from the local churches. As part of its core work with schools it also conducts assemblies and assists with curriculum RE lessons when requested.
