Zambia Orphans Aid UK

Zambia has c. 1. 2 million orphans and vulnerable children in a population of just 16. 7 million. ZOA-UK believes in a world where all children are able to achieve their potential. We create lasting change for vulnerable children and youth in Zambia by providing them with a quality education that helps to break the cycle of poverty in their families.

Founded 2006

  • Mission statement

We empower Zambian orphans and vulnerable children (OVCs) in their communities by working collaboratively with those communities. We respond to needs by forming long-lasting and sustainable partnerships with small, locally run projects. These include:
    - providing educational support or skills training
    - generating income then used to support OVCs
    - school feeding and building programmes in deprived areas
    - and providing psycho-social support
These community-based projects find it difficult to attract funding from other sources. ZOA can make a small amount of money go a very long way.

  • Aims

Zambia Orphans Aid UK aims to:

    • Assisting orphans and vulnerable children to complete their schooling in a country where books, uniforms and fees are a major burden for families
    • Funding communities so they can generate more income through business and agricultural projects.
    • Helping school leavers acquire skills for the world of work
