Children in Crisis

Children in Crisis provides education, protection, and better life opportunities for children who because of war, remoteness, and lack of government services, are missing out on quality schooling.

Founded 1993

  • Mission statement

Where resources are few, where education is needed to heal the nation, and where it is too remote for others, our aim is to support children to read, write, think, pursue their life goals and contribute positively to their communities.

  • Aims

    Children in Crisis aims to:

    • We exist to improve the lives of children who are hidden and left behind for reasons of conflict, isolation, discrimination and lack of resources. We work in remote areas poorly served by others.
    • We provide protection to vulnerable children in institutions such as jail, orphanages and refuges. We strengthen child protection within educational environments.
    • We work with local partners and the community to provide new models of low external resource quality education, with a priority given to ‘out of school children’
    • We work to engage and attract duty holders such as the state and international donors to allocate resources and introduce new laws, policies, and practices to realise the rights of forgotten children.
    • We support women’s capability to be advocates and supporters of their children’s education through women’s literacy, education and income generation. We promote the health and care of pregnant women.
