The Forever Friends Appeal

The Royal United Hospital (RUH) is the acute district general hospital for Bath and surrounding towns and villages in Somerset and West Wiltshire. Each year the dedicated staff at the RUH treat and care for approximately 30,000 in-patients and day cases, 53,000 accident and emergency patients, plus 249,000 out patients. They receive the best medical care that money can buy, but the NHS funding cannot meet these ever-increasing costs, and that's where the hospital's charity, The Forever Friends Appeal, steps in.

The Forever Friends Appeal was set-up in 1999 to raise funds for state-of-the-art medical equipment and facilities, over and above that provided by the NHS for the RUH. We are working urgently to provide the latest lifesaving technology in many areas including:

• Children
• Cancer
• Cardiology
• Critical Care

Over the past few years, the aim of the Appeal has altered slightly, and whilst purchasing equipment and facilities is still the aim, the way in which the Appeal raises the funds has altered slightly leading to a more campaigned approach to allow focus on major equipment or facilities.
