SOLA ARTS

SOLA ARTS is a registered Liverpool charity based in Toxteth running since 2004 working with vulnerable children and adults including refugees and people with mental health illnesses.

Founded 2004

  • Mission statement

We are a not-for-profit community arts project, which specialises in empowerment, social inclusion and integration for the betterment of the individual and the community, using the arts as a tool.

We work locally, nationally and internationally, across a broad range of Art Therapy programmes and art forms across a range of abilities with key partners and at a grassroots level.

We work with vulnerable children and adults including people with mental health difficulties. Mental ill-health and learning to cope on the road through recovery is not easy. We know this first hand, so we know how important both psychological and the right type of social support is, and we provide this 52 weeks of the year through programmes.

We hold an expertise in supporting refugee communities with mental distress and coming through trauma. We also specialise as the only dedicated Art Psychotherapy organisation in the community in Merseyside and also provide a wide range of support and skilling up programmes.

Our main activity is through a therapeutic community approach, supporting people from refugee and disadavntaged backgrounds and we are the lead refugee arts organisation in Merseyside. We also run FESTIVAL31, a refugee themed festival annually across the region with many community partners (www. Festival31. Com)
