Meningitis Research Foundation

Meningitis Research Foundation's vision is a world free from meningitis and septicaemia.

Every day eight people will become ill and every week six lives will be lost in the UK alone. Although anyone of any age can contract these diseases, those most at risk are the under fives and then teenagers and young adults.

Meningitis Research Foundation knows that the only way to defeat meningitis and septicaemia is through vital scientific research. That’s why the charity has a wide-reaching research programme.
· The charity has awarded 122 research grants, leading to many advances in the prevention, detection and treatment of meningitis and septicaemia.
· The total value of the Foundation's investment in vital scientific research is over £13. 5 million, made possible by individual giving and public support.

Meningitis and septicaemia are devastating diseases which can kill in hours. We therefore promote education and awareness to reduce death and disability
· We run national awareness programmes and distribute life-saving literature free of charge to health professionals, parents, schools and universities, as well as providing information in 22 different languages.

Sadly for some people these messages come too late. The Foundation therefore provides help and support to individuals and families whose lives have been devastated by meningitis and septicaemia.

The Foundation’s work is only possible through charitable donations. Your support could take us a step closer to a world free from meningitis and septicaemia.
