Birth Companions is a unique charity which supports vulnerable women during pregnancy, birth and early parenting. Birth Companions works with women facing a range of issues some examples include homelessness, mental health problems, a history of domestic violence or sexual abuse, trafficking, substance misuse and human rights violations.
Birth Companions aims to reduce the isolation and distress of vulnerable pregnant women and new mothers. It is a small but absolutely vital organisation, providing support and care to women who would otherwise be alone and vulnerable at one of the most important times of their lives - the birth of their baby. Our team of staff and volunteers show immense dedication to making this experience as positive as possible, and their sensitivity and compassion are what makes our work so appreciated by the women we support.
Birth Companions aims to:
- Improve the mental health and well being of vulnerable pregnant women and new mothers.
- Reduce the isolation of vulnerable pregnant women and new mothers.
- Enable vulnerable pregnant women and new mothers to give their babies the best possible start in life.
- Improve conditions for vulnerable pregnant women and new mothers as widely as possible.
