Progress Educational Trust

The Progress Educational Trust (PET), best known for publishing the weekly news digest and commentary BioNews, is a registered charity working to enhance public engagement with issues surrounding human genetics and reproduction. The basic objective of PET is to create an environment in which ethically sound research and practices in assisted reproduction and genetics can thrive.

In addition to the above, PET has achieved its aims through establishing a reputation as an influential voice on assisted reproduction and embryo research, operating in the 'civic space' between government and regulators and those directly or potentially affected by developments in these areas of biomedical science. PET is known for its authoritative, balanced public comment and debates, plus timely influence on policymakers as new advances in assisted reproduction, embryo research and genetics and the issues they raise are assessed by government and bodies such as the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority and the Human Genetics Commission.
