  • Mission statement

MAG is a neutral and impartial humanitarian organisation clearing the remnants of conflict for the benefit of local communities worldwide. MAG’s mission is to build futures of people affected by the remnants of conflict through responsive, quality-driven and progressive action. We remove the physical threat of injury and death and alleviate economic devastation. We provide clearance and education enabling an escape from the poverty and suffering caused by conflict. Our vision is a world where people can build peaceful and prosperous futures free from the impact of remnants of conflict.

MAG was founded in 1989. MAG and other key NGOs founded the International Campaign to Ban Landmines (ICBL) in 1992 and the UK Working Group on Landmines. MAG conducted research, provided technical field expertise and advocated the issues on an international platform. This culminated in the 1997 International Treaty to Ban Landmines and in the same year, the announcement that MAG was a co-laureate of the Nobel Peace Prize due to its involvement in the ICBL. We currently have programmes in Angola, Cambodia, DRC, Iraq, Laos, Lebanon, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Vietnam and projects in Burundi, Cyprus, and Republic of Congo
