The Tropical Biology Association

Investing in people for conservation

The TBA gives scientists the skills, support and confidence to manage natural resources in tropical regions effectively and sustainably.
We do this through tailor-made courses, working together with local partners and a global network of experts.

Founded 1994

  • Mission statement

    Impact where it matters

Our training works because it is relevant and innovative, building the capacity of conservation scientists to benefit communities and biodiversity in their own countries.

The TBA stands out because the scientists we train go on to make a positive impact to conservation on the ground. With a 98% contact rate with our trainees, we can monitor how our courses have influenced their careers. Many go on to run their own organisations to look after endangered species and threatened habitats. Others become influential members of government, helping to ensure national policy takes account of conservation needs to help manage resources sustainably.

“I have learned how to best promote on-the-ground conservation in the areas with the greatest need”
    E. Tambara, Zimbabwe

The Tropical Biology Association courses are heavily oversubscribed with ten deserving applicants for every place. Your donation will ensure we train more young conservationists, placing them in the best position to care for their own precious habitats and wildlife.

“Keep up the good work you do. You actually change lives. You did mine. ”
    G. Adum, Ghana
