Nottinghamshire YMCA supports communities through various transitions. Our programmes include supporting homeless people to become independent; empowering young people to develop core life skills and positively influence their communities and society generally; children and young people in care through support and accommodation that meets their needs and aspirations and a variety of health & fitness programmes that promote healthier, more active lifestyles.
Our mission, based on Christian values, is to develop the mind, body and spirit of individuals, families and communities, and improve health & wellbeing for all.
Nottinghamshire YMCA has an active concern for the needs of the community whatever their circumstances (social, economic, religious). We fully embrace the diversity of our customers and the communities we both live in and support, and are committed to helping young people and adults ‘Learn for Life’. Our principle concern is providing an environment that helps people develop their skills, gain a sense of achievement and take responsibility for their actions.
We run a variety of programmes, from housing to services for young people and children to health and fitness activities in the community. Our overriding mission is to 'provide quality services and facilities in a Christian environment that promotes the development of individuals'.
Nottinghamshire YMCA aims to:
- To promote healthy living through inclusive programmes and activities that improve mental and physical health
- To nurture and empower young people in adopting and reinforcing positive life skills
- To help our communities to become more resilient, cohesive and supportive for vulnerable members of society
