The Orpheus Centre

The Orpheus Centre is a specialist college in Surrey that increases the confidence and skills of young disabled adults through the performing arts. We believe that every young disabled person should have the same opportunities as their non-disabled peers. We offer a holistic learning programme, a supported housing scheme and a domiciliary care service. Our students, aged 18 - 25, have learning and/or physical impairments and usually stay at Orpheus for three years

Founded 1998

  • Mission statement

Orpheus exists to provide young disabled people with opportunities to be empowered and inspired through the arts in order to live independently.
We aim to support young disabled adults to participate in inclusive performing and visual arts productions and enables them to lead a future semi-independent life style in their local community. We benefit the public by reducing demands for future residential care and associated costs through teaching and supporting our students to gain the confidence. Skills and qualifications that they need to make informed choices to achieve their aspirations in a semi-independent setting.
