At CHILDREN 1ST we listen, we support and we take action to build a brighter future for Scotland's vulnerable children, young people and families.

We are formerly known as the RSSPCC.

Founded 1884

  • Mission statement

Our vision is a happy, healthy, safe and secure childhood for every child and young person in Scotland.

This means working to make sure that all of Scotland's children get the best possible start in life. Our services place the child at the centre and they are designed to listen to and support families to build a brighter future for their children.

We support families under stress, protect children from harm and neglect and help them to recover from abuse. We work closely with children and their families and give them the tools to make positive changes in their lives.

We also promote children's rights and interests and campaign to help to change the lives of vulnerable children and young people for the better.

  • Aims

    CHILDREN 1ST aims to:

    • Take action for vulnerable children, young people and their families, speaking out on their behalf to influence legislation and campaign for change.
    • Listen to children, young people and families throughout Scotland who are struggling to be heard and feel like they have nowhere to turn.
    • Support families who want to do the best for their children, but struggle to cope with issues such as drug and alcohol misuse, poverty, isolation and family breakdown.
