Disability Snowsport UK

Disability Snowsport UK is a people-centred organisation with a unique sense of purpose: that anyone regardless of their disability can take part in and enjoy the thrill of snowsports.

Founded 1970

  • Mission statement

Disability Snowsport UK (formerly the Uphill Ski Club of Great Britain) is the UK’s Skiing and Snowboarding charity, working for equal rights of access for children and adults with disabilities. We achieve this through a number of activities, including: a network of local groups, overseas activity weeks, adaptive ski schools, a schools and youth programme, support for adaptive ski racing, various training programmes, and advice and information.

We believe that anyone with some degree of mobility can participate in snowsports, and as such, we support and encourage each individual to reach their full potential on the slopes. In some cases, a person can ski better than they can walk, providing a freedom previously unknown. The benefits of snowsports for people with disabilities are far-reaching, and include therapeutic benefits for the mind and body, overcoming personal barriers and valuable social inclusion opportunities.

  • Aims

    Disability Snowsport UK aims to:

    • "To promote equality and opportunity for people with disabilities to take part in snowsports and to help improve their enjoyment and standard of performance at the level of their choice."
