Chance for Childhood
Chance for Childhood
Chance for Childhood is an international charity working in Africa to support the most vulnerable children, often invisible from society, such as street children, disabled children, children affected by conflict, child-headed households and children in conflict with the law.
We believe that a childhood shouldn’t be spent on the streets, or in a war zone, or imprisoned and isolated at home. It should be spent in school, and a nurturing, safe home environment.
Yet many children are robbed of their childhood by disability, conflict or extreme poverty. We work in harsh environments where thousands of young
people are forced to grow up much too quickly.
Our projects are tailored to the unique needs of each individual and their communities, but all include aspects on education, justice and inclusion.
Chance for Childhood was founded in 1992, originally under the name of ‘Jubilee Action’. In December 2016 we merged with fellow UK charity Street Child Africa to maximise our impact and help more vulnerable children.
With your support today, we can rebuild more young lives and give them a better future.
Chance for Childhood aims to:
- Education - Helping children access a quality education or training so they have the tools to rebuild their own lives.
- Safeguarding - Protect children from physical, sexual and emotional abuse, whether amongst their families or in their community.
- Inclusion - Ensuring that the most vulnerable children aren’t forgotten and can be active members of their community.
- Justice - Ensuring vulnerable children are protected and have access to the fair and compassionate justice they deserve.
