The Advocacy Project

Our aim is to improve the quality of life and life chances of adults with learning disabilities through advocacy.

We work with individuals with a range of disability, including sensory impairment, those who do not use speech to communicate and adults who also have a physical disability or a mental health diagnosis.

Advocacy means taking action to help people say what they want, secure their rights, represent their interests and obtain services they need. Our users often have little control over their lives, and although receiving support from family and different professionals, there can be conflicting interests, and the real choice of the individual may be overlooked. Advocates are independent and work in partnership with the people they support and take their side, ensuring their needs, wishes and views are heard.
