The Earl Mountbatten Hospice

Earl Mountbatten Hospice is the only hospice on the Isle of Wight and lead provider of palliative care to the Island community. We care for patients suffering from or affected by life-shortening illnesses and provide vital help and advice for their families, friends and carers. We are here to help Island people live well and die at peace in the place they choose.

    Our mission is to promote and to provide good care and support for those people living with, affected by, or curious about death, dying and bereavement across the Isle of Wight.

    Our vision is of a world where all dying people and those close to them have access to expert, compassionate and cost-effective care of the highest quality, whatever the illness, whoever they are and wherever they happen to be.

    The Earl Mountbatten Hospice aims to:

    • Improve early identification of people nearing the end of their lives to enable better planning and co-ordinated care which helps support patients and their carers to prepare for death
    • Improve communication and awareness around end of life care and promote the use of care planning to enable those identified as approaching end of life, and those important to them, to state their wi
    • Improve the coordination and integration of end of life care to create an individualised journey within one integrated system of care, with easily accessible, shared patient records and care plans.
    • Improve access to rapid response 24/7 end of life care, developing a single point of access and the resources required to provide it.
    • Ensure that people approaching the end of their life, their carers, families and staff, have their physical, psychological and spiritual needs safely, effectively and appropriately met during the da
