Scottish Seabird Centre

The Scottish Seabird Centre was opened in 2000 and has grown rapidly into an award winning environmental initiative, which brings people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds closer to wildlife. From its stunning location at North Berwick, overlooking the wildlife rich waters of the Firth of Forth, the Centre inspires people to appreciate, learn about and care for Scotland’s natural environment. It is now recognized as a world leader in sustainable wildlife tourism and environmental education. We are a small, independent and community -based charity and we depend on public support to deliver our conservation, education and community work.

In addition to our important work, through our attraction of over 200,000 visitors annually, we help to fuel the local economy and regenerate the historic harbour side and town of North Berwick. Open 364 days a year, the Centre is an outstanding year-round facility for tourists and the wider local community.

With web cam links to some of the most important wildlife sanctuaries in Europe (the islands of Bass Rock, Fidra and May), we provide unmatched opportunities for wildlife observation and education, for schools, wildlife students and the general public. Our website www. Seabird. Org recorded 100,000 hits, last year.

We are fully aware that we need to continue to improve our facilities and there are exciting plans for additional cameras on the islands and even to provide live links wildlife sanctuaries in the Falkland and Galapagos Islands.

There has never been a more important time to promote environmental and conservation awareness in people’s minds and, with your help, we hope to play an even more important role in the future.
