Charity information

Bury Hospice

Bury Hospice needs £2. 1 million a year (around £6,000 a day) to provide exceptional and highly skilled care for local men and women, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and in 27 years, we have never charged a penny for the services we offer. However, we only receive 18% of our funding from the government which means we have to raise a substantial amount of money ourselves, through our own fundraising and the help and support of the local community.

  • Mission statement

Bury Hospice delivers very special nursing care for people living with terminal or life threatening illnesses, such as cancer; heart failure; motor neurone disease; chronic obstructive pulmonary disease; multiple sclerosis; Parkinson's disease; renal failure; end stage liver disease; dementia; Alzheimers; AIDS etc. , whilst supporting their families and carers. Care is provided by in-patient medical and respite facilities operating 24 hrs a day, by dedicated staff trained in palliative care.

Day Hospice care is available on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 8am to 4pm offering creative therapy, complimentary therapy, complimentary services, stress management, and relaxation therapy sessions, home assessment visits, patient clinics offering dietetic advice, physiotherapy, palliative care and symptom control plus a Hospice at Home service.

Our aim is to put the patient first and foremost, caring for the whole person including their physical, emotional. Spiritual, psychological and social needs.

As you would imagine, it is difficult to continually raise enough money each year not only to continue the present services but also to find the extra to pay for new additional facilities.
