St Peter's Cathedral Music Trust

St Peter's Cathedral Music Trust was founded in November 2007 to support the development of musical excellence at St Peter's Cathedral in Lancaster, Lancashire, UK. The trust has two primary objectives: to advance the Roman Catholic religion in St Peter's Cathedral, Lancaster through the provision of liturgical music of an excellent standard during Masses and other religious services, and to advance the musical education of the pupils at Roman Catholic and other schools in and around Lancaster by providing and assisting with the provision of facilities for musical education at these schools.
St Peter's Cathedral receives no music budget from the Diocese of Lancaster and the Cathedral Parish is not itself a wealthy one. Therefore the decision has been taken to raise an endowment fund to support a part-time Director of Music at the Cathedral, provide choral and organ scholarships, cover expenses relating to the purchase of music and to fund a wide variety of musical activities within the Cathedral, including outreach to local schools and the general public through workshops, festivals and concerts. The Music Trust will receive some funds from the Cathedral Parish (raised through concerts and other fundraising activities) and other grant-giving bodies, but the generosity of private donors will play a crucial role role in helping us to reach our target of at least £250,000.
