The Meath Epilepsy Charity

While the Meath is proud of our 125-year history of dedicated service to people challenged by complex epilepsy and associated disabilities, we maintain a contemporary, forward-looking approach! With a progressive pathway of housing and tailored support, two award-winning social enterprises plus staff and volunteers who embrace community involvement, we are passionate about enabling people to live happy, fulfilled lives and to help reduce the stigma still associated with epilepsy, even today.

Founded 1892

  • Mission statement

The Meath offers a variety of housing options plus person-centred support services for eighty (residential) and others whose lives are affected by complex epilepsy and associated disabilities. Ranging from 24-hour specialist care through a number of semi-independent living options to support in someone’s own home, our skilled staff teams assist each person to understand and manage their condition and to achieve their own personal goals in a friendly, vibrant and supportive environment.
Our housing, with a specialist high-needs facility and the Meath Skills and Enterprise Centre, are situated along a leafy lane in Godalming, Surrey, a minute’s walk from the rail station and a short walk from town, ideally placed for easy access and yet still retaining peace and tranquillity when required.
We focus on abilities, as opposed to disability, encouraging everyone to play an active role in organising their own life, wherever possible. Offering access to a raft of everyday life and work related learning skills, plus creative, sports and leisure pursuits through our Skills and Enterprise Centre, we are also proud to promote the artistic skills of the people we support through our two social enterprises, ARTHOUSE Meath (www. Arthousemeath. Com) and Changing Perceptions (www. Changingperceptions. Org. Uk).
We value community involvement, welcoming many volunteers to work alongside our staff, assisting people in working towards individual goals and playing a full and active role in society.
