We serve young Afghan men and women by helping develop good jobs, sustainable businesses and fair markets; we provide vocational skills training, education, on-site healthcare and a nourishing meal.
Our Mission: To help develop good jobs, sustainable businesses and fair markets in Afghanistan – with a particular commitment to reach and serve young men and women from the poorest backgrounds and circumstances - in order to address poverty, promote stability and encourage a lasting peace.
We're a small, energetic charity determined to make a difference! Set up in 2005, Afghan Action is creating sustainable employment and providing education, training, health care and food in our training and business incubation centre for young men and women in Kabul, where young people learn how to make beautiful handmade Afghan carpets and, since July 2011, clothing and uniforms.
We've trained over 800 young people so far and currently have 90 people on site. Our beautiful handmade carpets, are sold in the UK, mainly through retailers Oriental Rugs of Bath and Moss Furniture (Morecambe) - see our website for more details. We hold special events and also work in the UK to raise awareness about Afghanistan and build links with Afghan organisations.
We are developing an innovative ICT programme - to introduce virtualisation into Afghanistan.
We are now looking to expand onto 2 more sites in Afghanistan.
