Dementia UK provides specialist dementia support for families through our Admiral Nurse service. When things get challenging or difficult, Admiral Nurses work alongside them, giving the one-to-one support,expert guidance and practical solutions people need. The unique dementia expertise and experience an Admiral Nurse brings is a lifeline-it helps everyone in the family to live more positively with dementia in the present, and to face the challenges of tomorrow with more confidence and less fear.
Our vision is that people living with and affected by dementia will receive compassionate expert care and support that is right for them, to live positive and fulfilling lives.
Living with dementia can be an incredibly hard and lonely experience for everyone affected. The specialist support we offer through Admiral Nursing helps everyone in the family to live more positively with dementia in the present, and to face the challenges of tomorrow with more confidence and less fear.
Admiral Nurses are at the forefront of dementia care and all have significant expertise and experience of working with people with dementia to provide the specialist support they need;
When communication gets hard, we’re here to help families stay connected to the person they love.
If a family member with dementia starts to show fear or distress, we’ll work with the family to find the best ways of preventing and managing this.
If families are struggling to cope, we’ll be there to help them get the best possible care and support their love one needs.
When families have questions they can’t get answered, we’ll take the time to really understand the problem and give them the expert support they need to tackle it.
We work in partnership with other dementia services, using our experience and expertise to foresee and avoid crisis and upskill others involved in caring for people with dementia.
Our mission is to ensure families can access Admiral Nursing when they need it, no matter where they are.
