Dementia UK

Dementia UK is a national charity, committed to improving quality of life for all people affected by dementia.

Founded 1988

  • Mission statement

Dementia UK is the only UK charity to offer specialist one-to-one support and expert advice for people living with dementia.

Our renowned Admiral Nurses work hand in hand with families, helping them cope with the fear, uncertainty and difficult everyday reality of dementia. They were named by the family of Joseph Levy CBE BEM, who founded the charity. Joseph had vascular dementia and was known affectionately as “Admiral Joe” because of his love of sailing.

Living with dementia can be an incredibly hard and lonely experience for both the person with dementia and their loved ones. We provide the compassionate, expert support families need every step of the way - helping everyone in that family to live more positively with dementia in the present; and to face the challenges of tomorrow with more confidence.

We believe passionately that everyone who needs the support of an Admiral Nurse should get one - that’s why we’re working hard to increase the number of nurses across the UK. To help us, or to get support, visit www. Dementiauk. Org. Uk
