Asian Foundation for Philanthropy (AFP)

AFP’s vision is to inspire social change. We facilitate a broad movement of engagement with grassroots development in India amongst the British Asian community. We align all our work to the Millennium Development Goals and support India in achieving them.

AFP doesn’t work in isolation; we believe that for long lasting positive change, people need to work collectively as a global community. By working directly at the grassroots level, we ensure that the poorest people can improve their lives, livelihoods, and have a stronger voice in decisions that affect them.

We enable this process through our three programmes of international volunteering in India, development awareness and our donor programme which are underpinned by the shared goal of increasing awareness and encouraging participation.

Our focus areas of education, livelihoods, participation and governance targets long-lasting solutions to ongoing problems affecting the poor in India, to get them out of the poverty trap. All our work aims to contribute to sustainable development.

In India, we work with partner organisations, many of which are community owned and led, and hence understand the challenges that their communities face better than any external party. In the UK, we encourage the British Asian community to understand better how interrelated the world is, educate people on being more aware about global social and economic issues, and engage experienced professionals as volunteers to support our partners in India.

We firmly believe that until people are empowered, engaged and educated, there cannot be positive social change.

Please support our work and become a social change maker.
