Founded 1943

  • Mission statement

MHA is one of very few registered charities providing services for older people. We have no shareholders and any surplus funds are re-invested in new developments of care homes, housing and community support services. Presently caring for over 16,000 older people throughout Britain, demand for our services is rapidly increasing. Many new developments are in progress throughout the UK and voluntary income is vital to enable us to continue to provide the care for which we are becoming recognised nationally. Founded by a Methodist Minister in 1943, our services are available to all, of all faiths and none. Our mission is "to improve the quality of life for older people, inspired by Christian concern. " Projects include refurbishments, new builds and community outreach.

MHA is seen as a leader in the field of DEMENTIA care, concentrating on a person's spiritual as well as physical well-being by recognising each person's need for relationships with others, a sense of belonging and useful activity.

A new dementia care home costs over £5million which MHA partially funds with bank loans. The remaining costs are met via charitable funds, which enable MHA to continue to respond to the increasing demands for its services to care for an ageing population. Contributions of any amount towards the projects MHA is developing will make a significant difference to the quality of life for those MHA cares for.
