Get Set Girls
Get Set Girls
Our beneficiaries are young people mainly aged 16-18 from the London Boroughs of Hackney and Haringey. They come from low-income families and have little potential for breaking out of the poverty cycle through accessing further education and lucrative employment. They are also from BME communities and are therefore socially excluded. Our organisation targets these young people through outreach work and offers them training packages resulting in approx 90% success rate in entering employment.
Get Set Girls is a youth club catering for disadvantaged girls between the ages of 15 and 18.
Our vision is to provide disadvantaged, Jewish girls with training, skills and social activities and personal growth in a culturally appropriate environment.
When they go out into the adult world they will have:
-acquired skills and confidence to enter employment,
-gained experience and knowledge essential to dealing with people effectively,
-learnt how to make informed choices regarding family and community,
-increased their awareness about their own personal development and about their ability to make choices,
-to be motivated to contribute positively to society.
We achieve this by developing annual programmes that incorporate social activities, team building initiatives, lectures and workshops, volunteering programmes, trips and providing a wide range of training and skills courses, ranging from ICT, Childcare, numeracy and literacy, hairdressing and first aid, many of which lead to accredited qualifications.
Get Set Girls aims to:
- To provide opportunities for disadvantaged people from Bme communities to enable them to find employment successfully through mentoring and training courses and academic and vocational qualifications.
